Snowflake Challenge Day 1
I'm doing the
snowflake_challenge from Jan 1-15.
Day 1
In your own space, talk about your Happy Place—the things that give you joy, calms you or keeps you sane. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Hipster cafes are an important part of my routine. I find them calming, the smell of coffee, people coming and going. The best of them mix indoor and outdoor space, and have lots of greenery. I like bringing headphones and writing in them, postcards, fic, essays, whatever. I don’t actually drink coffee, doesn’t mix well with my anti-depressant, but the smell of it brewing has become automatically calming. I drink chai lattes instead and they vary a lot in quality so it’s a bit of an adventure every time. I find they are the easiest place to find the right headspace for writing.
It also gives me a chance to get out of my own head a bit and that’s been really good for me lately.

What is it about chai lattes that spurs so much... creativity? I've had some that somehow manage to suck all the moisture out of my mouth, because of the spice blend. But when they are done well, they are like an internal hug. So warm and comforting.

I love the smell of coffee (brewing, candles, etc), but not the taste (unless it's ice cream with hot fudge *g*). I'm a tea (iced or hot) drinker, also. But nothing sweet.
I find the hum of sound rather soothing and I sit next to a window so it's very bright and I can see the trees and flowers outside (when I'm not staring at snow).
I love the whole feel of it. (Maybe that's why I love coffee shop aus so much, lol!)

I love the hum and movement of coffee shops, it soothes something in my brain, makes it easier to focus.
