I dig that the Belmonts practice absolute primogeniture. With life expectancies as short as theirs, it's only practical. But all those little hints in the story referring to his mother? Unf, I should have seen it coming.

Also, your take on their life experience differences give them all such a different dynamic than I'm used to seeing in the OT3 fanfic. I'm digging it, I love it when people pick out that Trevor is competent. The three of them have 1 shared braincell bouncing around their skulls like a Windows screensaver, but the padding of those skulls are vastly different.

The domestic fluff makes my heart soar and I'm giggling like a nut. I see you trying not to perv and failing Trevorrrrrrr.I would read more ngl

I get that there’s a possible reading of Trevor as an Actual Disaster but whenever I run into that all I can think of is Trevor manipulating a mob into taking down that priest and than organizing them into saving gresit. It’s literal competence kink.

I did not, I really didn't! I read all those references to his mother and just thought they were more willing to forgo patriarchal custom for monster murdering expediency. Probably one of those clans that trained even their daughters and then married them off to their cousins, because nobody has time to train someone else's daughter.

People also have a tendency to write Alucard as more sophisticated than he is, which I get. But, honestly?

Exactly! fine, he has the emotional range of a teaspoon whatever! but you can't pretend that he's not the battlefield leader of their group and the one who makes the plans. Also I FIRMLY believe that he would have been trained pretty much from birth to lead others to war against horrors that they had a hard time imagining. Leader of Men is right below The Belmont as far as i'm concerned.

I mean fair, especially if you're coming from the games where he's like this ancient force for good. But that's not this canon. In his canon he's like 20 max and he never expected his dad to turn on him.

So i think he's a bit dumb at emotions, in that he's pretty good at picking them up but not good at knowing how to deal with them. So he can figure out what people are feeling but doesn't really know how to respond to them?

He did but also I found episode 8 very ooc from the rest of the show? Like almost 19 years later ooc. So i'm kinda ignoring it, not just because it spilt up the ot3.

It's like the wrote themselves heavily into gay and polyamory and then had to pull the brakes, but by then it was too late.

I need a gif of Trevor's "God shits in my dinner once again" and Sypha's "See, God hates me" because they're such moods. I had a hard time going through quixotic's Trevor icons because there were so many I wanted as reaction icons. I just don't have that kind of icon space.

Netflix should have just stuck with the polyamory and seen it through. Man, now they have to write themselves out of a hole. Was that extra trouble totally necessary, huh, Netflix?? Was it worth it??????

It does warm my heart though, that fandom has decided to practice Death of the Author and just, write your own ending. Adding all the nuance and the little historical titbits that couldn't fit into so few episodes. History's Longest Suicide Note is a good egg. Trying to save us all.

Oh worm! It's such an unnecessarily tacked on epilogue. Ending at ep 7 is just way more narratively satisfying.

Which is all we needed honestly. They could have cut right there and gone on to season 3. It would have been a solid arc like that. Why raise more questions??

I think they got a little stuck in their own heads and were like we need a really obvious sequel hook to get greenlit for season 3. Cause episode 8 feels like a really extended and also bad marvel post-credits scene

Or they planned to end at episode 7 but needed to establish a hook for an unplanned for season 3. Either way, it felt pretty tacked on.

In all fairness there's probably a bit of that too cause I'm sure monster hunters are a bit thin on the ground but the way I see it the Belmonts don't care who you marry (or don't marry, there's a fair number of bastard cousins running around) as long as they're competent and y'know can produce an heir, (because the morning star is tied to the bloodline.) SO Trevor's mother had a very nice romance with the manor's blacksmith's apprentice who became the blacksmith and also ran the place while his wife and her assorted cousins were off monster hunting.

(They both appreciate beautiful pointy things and he privately thinks of her as the finest weapon he's ever seen.)

Cool, we don't have to worry about scheduling time off for you when you get preggers, also have a couple cousins to raise. You're pregnant with no man in sight? Sweet, if you're carrying it to term (and we understand if you don't want to, you have options), do you want to raise the kid yourself or have somebody else do it.

The Belmonts think respectability is for cowards.

They're so practical it warms the cavity that is my heart. Little prejudices keep people from achieving all they could and it annoys me. The stats on the low birth rates in a lot of countries, just, pisses the shit out of me cause you know what's the difference between developed countries with a high birthrate and a low birthrate? Governmental policies that make it easier for men, women or childcare facilities to take care of kids.

The Belmonts should be in charge of governmental policy, gdi!!!
